Belle Fourche Cowboy Band

2007 Cheyenne Frontier Days

The Belle Fourche Cowboy Band would like to thank the city of Belle Fourche, the Chamber of Commerce, the area businesses and all of our faithful audiences. Without your support we wouldn't be able to continue spreading joy to so many folks.

May 1, 2011

Greetings to everyone! Winter has lasted forever in Western South Dakota and the thought of a hot day in July is just a dream!!.. For those of us residing in the area, we know it can and will warm up in a 24 hour time frame and for those of you hours away, if you haven’t already, we hope it will be warm soon!
As I write, we are still looking for someone to take over our equipment manager issues. Interested in the job? Give it some consideration and if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to call/email me and we can visit on the opportunity. The pay structure has been altered to address daily obligations and mileage issues for dragging around the trailer.
Other duties covered by members in the past but needing new help includes the flowers planted at the BFCB Electronic Sign. Alice & George Helmer helped with this in the past and need to pass the ball onto someone else. Interested? Let me know! How about the Golf Outing this year? It’s had some difficulties in the recent pass with getting everyone to the same page, do you want to try it this year? How about turning to Belle’s new Frisbee Golf course? Might provide an option for a social event of the band if someone wants to organize it!
This year’s Charlie McClung/Cowboy Band Scholarship winner will be Molly O’Connell. This young lady was a good helper with equipment and whatever she could do last year, a very deserving recipient!

Missing Chaps & Pouches – Does that mean You?

We are still missing chap numbers 5, 8, 12, 51, 55 and 64. Do you have any stuck in a closet or in the car trunk? On the music topic, we are missing pouches #2-flute, #15-16-17-18 Alto Sax, #21-tenor sax, #24 and #27- coronet, #43 and #44-baritone TC; and #55-trombone. Check out the bottom of the closet or where ever if you see your instrument listed… then give us a call!

The 2011 Schedule

The Band’s schedule, as of this date, still allows for some further planning, so I encourage you to keep in contact with our Face Book page Belle CowboyBand (notice the spacing?) for any updates. Check out the schedule! Other appearances may easily occur as time and people allow. The Christmas Light Parade is not a sure thing as I write this but we shouldn’t totally count it out yet.

The band’s ranks have a possibility of thinning out due to our senior members subsiding in attendance with the group....2011 is not only the band’s 80th anniversary, it marks another year for many that have been with us in the years past!.... Has it been awhile since you played with us? Got a friend that maybe interested in joining? Give me a little heads up and I can usually find an instrument! Don’t worry about the audition requirements….. I’m sure you’ll pass… ;)

                                                                                                            Be ready to have fun!
                                                                                                                        Tim Speidel
